Centi nets 3 for Inspire

Javier Centi scored three times for the Brandon Pizza Express Inspire on Sunday as they kept their hopes of promotion in the Manitoba Major Soccer League alive.

The Inspire left Winnipeg with a 6-2 win over Celtic FC courtesy of Centi’s hat trick as well as singles from James Dewdney, Chase Critchlow and Carter Willis, an under-18 player who was called up and made his debut with the team.

That win, combined with Saturday’s victory by forfeit over Luso Canadian, makes the Inspire unbeaten in their last 11 games and gives them 33 points in the Division 2 standings with a 10-6-3 mark. Players Club sits in second — the final spot for teams to be promoted — at 35 points, while Celtic has 34. All three teams have two games left.

The Inspire head back to Winnipeg on Sunday to take on Phoenix FC.
