The Dauphin Clippers lost their game, but clinched first place in the Rural Manitoba Football League’s North Division on Friday.
The Swan Valley Tigers downed the Clippers 28-16 in Dauphin. Both teams finished the regular season of the nine-man high school league at 6-2, but the Clippers were awarded first place and a more favourable matchup in next weekend’s semifinals based on point differential in the season series,. They beat the Tigers 28-7 in their earlier meeting.
Logan Thacker had 14 tackles, an interception, a 24-yard touchdown run and scored a two-point conversion for the Clippers on Friday. Brett Mosonier added eight tackles, an assist and two interceptions for Dauphin. Jacob Thacker ran 24 times for 110 yards, while Chase MacDonald had a 78-yard touchdown on a kick return. Dauphin quarterback Matthew Kish completed six of nine passes for 47 yards and an interception.

The Clippers will host the Virden Golden Bears next Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Golden Bears earned their playoff spot with a 40-14 win over the Moosomin Generals on Friday.
In the other semifinal, Swan Valley will visit the South Division-leading Southwest Sabres next Sunday in Souris at 2:30 p.m. The Sabres (7-0) will wrap up the regular season by hosting the Parkwest Outlaws (1-6) tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Golden Bears 40 Generals 14
At Virden, Carrigan George rushed 12 times for 105 yards and three touchdowns for the Golden Bears, while Mac Troughton had 110 yards on 19 carries, including a 72-yard major. Triston Turner added 115 yards on eight carries.Logan Roach completed seven of 12 passes for 164 yards. He hit Nick Martens twice for 110 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Martens added six tackles and an assist, while Jonathan Kliever had two tackles, seven assists and a sack.
