Crocus clinches provincial golf title

The Crocus Plainsmen won their first ever provincial high school boys golf championship banner on Friday at the Minnedosa Country Club on Friday.

Tyler Turner, Colton Willms, Drew Jones, and Dylan Williamson combined for a team score of 244 to win the crown. Jones shot a 77, the third lowest round of the day, and Turner shot an 83, which was tied for the sixth-best round. Minnedosa’s Wyatt Rapsky also shot an 83.

Two-time defending Tamarack junior boys champion Steven Young and P.J. McIvor led the way at 75.

Souris finished seventh in the boys’ team event at 276, Carberry was ninth at 282 with Minnedosa placing 10th at 286. Glenboro finished 12th and Birtle was 14th.

In the girls team competition, the Hamiota Huskies shot a 362 to finish fourth and Boissevain came in sixth at 389. Nellie McClung won the team title at 290.

In the individual competition, Dauphin’s Jessi Rampton shot a 90 and was second best to MyKyla Poponick from Lord Selkirk, who posted an 88.
