Crocus earns spot in final

Jake Cullen scored with 5:14 left in overtime to lift the Crocus Plainsmen to a 4-3 win over the Major Pratt Trojans Wednesday night in Russell and into the Westman High School Hockey League championship series.

Layton Dornn, Luke Galatiuk and Jackson Wallis also scored for the Plainsmen, who won their best-of-three semifinal 2-1. Brayden Cullum scored a pair of goals for Major Pratt, while Bret Nahirniak had two assists.

In Wednesday’s other game, it was: Dauphin Clippers 2, Neepawa Tigers 1.

Late Tuesday, it was Boissevain Broncos 4, Virden Golden Bears 3.

Dauphin 2 Neepawa 1

Statistics from the game at Neepawa weren’t available at press time. With the win, Dauphin claimed the best-of-three league semifinal 2-1 and will meet Crocus for the league title.

Broncos 4 Golden Bears 3

At Boissevain, Josh Wood scored the game-winning goal with 3:58 left in the third period to lift the Broncos into the consolation final against the Souris/Reston Sabres. Carter Cowlthorp had a pair of assists for Boissevain, which won the best-of-three consolation series 2-1. Austin Brereton had two goals and an assist for Virden.
