Brandon’s Victor St. Pierre has been honoured for his brilliant start to the season.
The 5-foot-9, 160-pound running back has been named the Kas Vidruk AA Division offensive player of the week in the Winnipeg High School Football League after rushing nine times for an eye-popping 301 yards and scoring eight touchdowns, including one on a 58-yard punt return for a TD. St. Pierre’s performance helped power the Crocus Plainsmen to an 84-0 thrashing of the Miles Macdonnell Buckeyes in Winnipeg last Thursday.
St. Pierre, a member of Manitoba’s under-18 team that competed at Football Canada nationals this summer, leads the division in scoring and rushing, averaging 33.4 yards per carry for Crocus Plains (1-0), which plays host to the St. Paul’s Crusaders (1-0) on Friday at 5 p.m.
In other high school action, the Neelin Spartans (0-1) are home to Miles Mac (0-1) on Friday at 5 p.m., while in the John Potter AAA Division, Brandon’s Vincent Massey Vikings (0-1) travel to Winnipeg Friday to face the Kelvin Clippers (1-0).
