Brandonite’s Mitch Van Teeling and Brayden Cuthbert both had a goal and an assist for the Dauphin Kings as they beat the visiting Swan Valley Stampeders 5-2 on Sunday in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
In Sunday’s other games, it was: Steinbach Pistons 7, Neepawa Natives 3; and Winnipeg Blues 5, Winkler Flyers 4.
On Saturday, it was: Virden Oil Capitals 6, Waywayseecappo Wolverines 2; Portage Terriers 6, OCN Blizzard 5 (OT); Pistons 4, Flyers 1; and Selkirk Steelers 2, Blues 1 (SO).
At Dauphin, Virden’s Cameron Whyte and Killarney’s Jesse Bernard also found the back of the net for the Kings (19-12-1), winners of five straight. Boissevain’s Jagger Thomas had a goal for the Stampeders (15-19-1).
Pistons 7 Natives 3
At Neepawa, Hayden Goderis posted his first hat trick of the year for the Pistons (25-7-1), who are tied for the league lead with Portage, while Colin Baudry added a goal and three assists. Gladstone’s Lyndon Soper scored twice for the Natives (9-22-4).
Blues 5 Flyers 4
At Winnipeg, Warren Callis had a pair of goals, with Kamerin Nault adding a goal and an assist for the Blues (17-11-5). Evan Last paced the Flyers (10-22-4) with a marker and a helper.
Oil Capitals 6 Wolverines 2
At Waywayseecappo, Patrick D’Amico scored twice and set up another goal for the Sher-Wood Division-leading Oil Caps (21-11-1). Elkhorn’s Curtis Oliver also found the back of the net for Virden, while Melita’s Lucas Oliver had three assists. George Splichal and Brenden Luschinski replied for the Wolverines (8-21-2), who have lost their last seven.
Terriers 6 Blizzard 5 (OT)
At The Pas, Zack Waldvogel scored his second of the game in overtime for the Terriers (23-7-5), while Elkhorn’s Taylor Sanheim also found the back of the net. Damien Kulynych replied with a hat trick for the Blizzard (14-18-2).
Pistons 4 Flyers 1
At Winkler, Justin Augert had two goals and an assist for the Pistons. Last netted the Flyers’ lone goal.
Steelers 2 Blues 1 (SO)
At Selkirk, Soren Fredriksen scored in regulation time and Brett Dudar netted the shootout winner for the Steelers (23-6-2). Nault scored in the third period and the shootout for the Blues.
