The Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Dauphin Kings are ranked 10th in the country in the latest Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings.
The Kings currently sit third overall in the MJHL with a 31-11-2 record. The Winnipeg Blues (32-12-1) are ranked 17th, while the league-leading OCN Blizzard (31-14-4) received an honourable mention.
Meanwhile, Kellen MacBlain of the Neepawa Natives was suspended for one game for receiving his second instigator fighting penalty of the season on Friday night.
In other news, seven former MJHLers suited up for NHL teams during opening week, including former Brandon Wheat Kings Jordin Tootoo (Detroit Red Wings/OCN Blizzard) and Travis Hamonic (New York Islanders/Winnipeg Saints), along with Binscarth’s Cody McLeod (Colorado Avalanche/Waywayseecappo Wolverines), Snowflake’s Justin Falk (Minnesota Wild/Swan Valley Stampeders), Darcy Hordichuk (Edmonton Oilers/ Dauphin Kings), Ryan Garbutt (Dallas Stars/Winnipeg Blues) and Travis Zajac (New Jersey Devils/St. James Canadians).
