Doyle, Rinn help Canada win another gold medal

A pair of Westman players helped Canada win its sixth straight world standing amputee hockey championship on Saturday in Tampere, Finland.

Slade Doyle, a 35-year-old defenceman from Brandon, and Tom Rinn, a 29-year-old forward from Snowflake, were both on the Canadian team that beat Finland 6-3 in the gold medal game. Canada advanced to the final by finishing first in the round robin with a 3-0-0 record.

This is the third world championship for Doyle, who also won in 2008 and 2010. It’s the sixth for Rinn.

Canada is the only team to with a world standing amputee hockey championship since the event began in 2003.
