Brandon’s Connor Gutenberg and Sam Huston are among eight Westman players picked for Hockey Manitoba’s Program of Excellence top-40, under-16 boys summer camp.

Gutenberg, a forward, and Huston, a defenceman, are members of the Brandon Bantam AAA Wheat Kings, and will be joined at the camp by Southwest Cougars forwards Brian Harris of Wawanesa and Reg Pohl of Douglas, as well as Southwest defencemen Cody Thompson of Killarney and Zack Wytinck of Glenboro, and Cougars goaltender Rylan Rommelaere of Boissevain. Also making the cut are Parkland Rangers forward Bradley Marshall of Ste. Rose and Notre Dame Hounds blue-liner Josh Brook of Roblin.

The camp, May 8-11 in Portage la Prairie, will help whittle down the candidates to represent Manitoba in the 2015 Canada Winter Games, Feb. 21 to March 1 in Prince George, B.C.
