Falloon OT hero for Terriers

Russell’s Derek Falloon netted the overtime winner for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Yorkton Terriers at the Royal Bank Cup in Vernon, B.C., on Thursday to advance to the Canadian Junior A championship semifinals and hand the Dauphin Kings their first loss.

Tyler Giebel scored the other goal for Yorkton (2-2), which is coached by Medora’s Trent Cassan. Brent Wold scored for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Kings (3-1), who lost to the Terriers for the third time in 18 days. Dauphin still placed first in the round robin.

Both the Terriers and the Kings will play in Saturday’s semifinals, although their opponents were not yet known with the final round-robin game still in progress at press time late Thursday night.
