First-place Farmers rally past Dodgers

Vince Lujan’s fourth hit of Friday night’s Manitoba Senior Baseball League game drove in the winning run as the Neepawa Farmers battled back in the final two innings to beat the host Oak River Dodgers 7-5.

Lujan finished 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs and two RBIs for the league-leading Farmers (5-2), who trailed 5-2 after six innings. The game was called after eight innings due to darkness.

Isaac Rodriguez, who went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, earned the win on the mound after shutting out the Dodgers in three innings of relief work in which he didn’t allow any base runners and struck out four. Ryan Shaw was tagged with the loss after giving up three runs in 1 2/3 innings of work.

John Lawrence led Oak River (0-6) at the dish, going 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
