The Elton Sabres took their lumps in their welcome to the Westman High School Rugby League.
Tyson Bachewich scored three tries, while Justin McKinnon had two tries and five conversions as the Minnedosa Chancellors rolled to an 82-0 victory over the first-year team in a varsity boys’ game on Tuesday at John Reilly Field. Brent Cardy and Blake Marchischuk added two tries apiece for the Chancellors, with Cardy also chipping in a conversion. Nick Cameron, Brian Black, Logan Patterson, Aziz Olde-Moine and Matthew Hudon had the other Minnedosa tries.
In other games, also at Reilly Field, the Vincent Massey Vikings swept the Crocus Plainsmen, 13-0 in a varsity boys’ game and 46-19 in a varsity girls’ contest.
In the boys’ game, Eugene Luonga and Austin Moar scored tries, with Ty Kuz booting a penalty kick. In the girls’ game, Victoria Rust had two tries and a conversion, while Emily Wolfe also had tries for the Vikings. Brittany Boschman, who added two conversions, Kelly Braun-Abad, Momoe Katayana and Zaino Bird also scored tries for Massey. Mia Flamand scored all three tries and both conversions for the Plainsmen.
