Four Eagles finish first

Four Brandon Eagles gymnasts had first-place finishes in Winnipeg on the weekend.

In the Manitoba Open championship, Brandon’s Isabela Onyshko swept the vault, bars, beam and floor to finish first all-around in the senior high performance category, while Shea Taylor was first in the all-around in the Provincial 5 Novice division after placing first on bars, beam and floor and second on vault.

Brandon’s Alex Empey was third in the all-around in the Provincial 5 Open category, with a first on bars, second on floor and third on beam, while Taylor Goodon placed fourth in the all-around, including a bronze medal on vault.

Meanwhile, Brandon’s Natalie Sluis and Brook Bradshaw both captured their division titles in Provincial 3 Novice and Provincial 4 Tyro Novice, respectively. Sluis was first on bars and floor along with the all-around, while Bradshaw swept vault, bars, beam, floor and the all-around.

This weekend, the Eagles club will host the regional stream provincials.
