Fowler on road to Roar

The field and has been confirmed for the Road to the Roar Olympic pre-trials and Rob Fowler’s Brandon-based team will be there.

The 12-team men’s field will also include defending Canadian champion Brad Jacobs, 2008 Olympic gold medallist Brad Gushue and former Brier champion Jean-Michel Menard. The other teams will be skipped by Mark Kean, Steve Laycock, Joe Frans, Greg Balsdon, Bryan Cochrane, Jake Higgs, Rob Rumfeldt and Jim Cotter. Kevin Martin’s former third John Morris will join Cotter’s B.C. team for the pre-trials, which start in Kitchener, Ont., on Nov. 5.

Only two teams will advance to the Olympic trials in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg’s Barb Spencer is the only Manitoba squad entered in the 12-team women’s field. Cathy Overton-Clapham had a spot secured but declined the invite after leaving her team earlier this year.
