Brian Fowler scored a huge end and gave one up, but he managed to hang on and become the first team to go 2-0 in the Brandon Sun Westman Super League of Curling late Wednesday night.
Fowler’s Brandon crew scored five in the second end and gave it right back in the fifth, but he replied with three in the sixth in his 10-8 victory over Pilot Mound’s Curtis McCannell (1-1).
In Wednesday’s other games, it was Jerry Chudley 7, Jim Renwick 6 in an extra end; Kelly Marnoch 6, Shawn Taylor 4; Cale Dunbar 5, Kelly Skinner 4; Perry Fisher 8, Mark Anderson 2; and Terry McNamee 6, Duane Lang 4.

Jerry Chudley (1-1) of Neepawa scored a deuce in the eighth end and stole a point in the ninth to earn his first win of the season over Brandon’s Renwick (1-1).
Marnoch 6 Taylor 4
Carberry’s Marnoch (1-1) opened and closed the game with deuces as he dropped Taylor to 0-2.
Dunbar 5 Skinner 4
Dunbar forced Skinner (0-2) to a single in the eighth end and went on to win his season-opener in a matchup of Brandon teams.
Fisher 8 Anderson 2
Wawanesa’s Fisher (1-0) opened the game with a three and stole four points in the final three ends before shaking hands with Brandon’s Anderson (1-1).
McNamee 6 Lang 4
In a rematch of last year’s final, McNamee (1-1) took control of the game with a three in the fourth, added a deuce in the sixth and ran fellow Brandonite Lang (1-1) out of stones in the eighth.
