Scott Gall scored the shootout winner to give the host Winkler Flyers a 4-3 triumph over the defending champion Steinbach Pistons in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League on Tuesday night.
Gall also scored a third-period goal that gave Winkler a 3-1 lead, with Regan Stire and Cartwright’s Bryce Enns also scoring in regulation for the Flyers (12-25-4). Winkler goalie Mitchell Maraschiello stopped 41 shots and both shootout attempts.
Hayden Goderis, Justin Baudry and Tyler Penner scored the goals for the Pistons (30-9-2), who moved into a tie with the idle Selkirk Steelers (30-6-2) for first place overall in the MJHL.
