Gould picked for Manitoba curling Hall of Fame

Former Brandon resident Steve Gould is one of three individuals who will be inducted into the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame this year.

Gould was named for induction Tuesday in the players category, along with icemaker Hans Wuthrich and former Curl Manitoba president Mitchell Tarapasky in the builders category. Barry Fry’s 1979 Canadian championship men’s squad and Cathy Pidzarko’s 1978 national women’s championship foursome are being inducted in the team category. Justice native Bryan Wood was the lead on Fry’s team.

Gould, a former lead with Jeff Stoughton’s Winnipeg-based team, won national and world championships in 1996 and 2011 and made 15 appearances in the provincial men’s championship, winning six titles. Gould was a five-time all-star lead at provincials and the all-star lead at the 2006 Brier.
