Kelsey Conrad scored at 5:16 of the third period to give the Pembina Valley Hawks a 2-1 victory that eliminated the Yellowhead Chiefs from the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League playoffs on Tuesday night in Shoal Lake.
With the win, the first-place Hawks clinched the best-of-five semifinal series 3-1 and now advance to meet the Westman Wildcats in the best-of-five league final that will begin Friday in Morden at 7:30 p.m. Westman, which knocked off the second-place Winnipeg Avros 3-1 in the other semifinal series, will host Game 2 on Sunday in Hartney at 2 p.m.
On Tuesday night, Abbey Bridges scored the other goal for Pembina Valley, while Emma Coulter replied for Yellowhead.
Taylor Reimer made 22 saves for the Hawks, while Kristen Hunt stopped 25 shots for the Chiefs.
