Newdale’s John Lawrence and his University of Saskatchewan Huskies came up short in their bid to win a Canadian Interuniversity Sport men’s hockey championship on home ice.
The Huskies fell 3-1 to the Alberta Golden Bears in Sunday’s championship game in Saskatoon. Lawrence was held off the scoresheet, although the 22-year-old forward did net a goal for Saskatchewan in its 9-0 win over the Windsor Lancers on Saturday to finish atop its group and earn a trip to the final.
