The host Major Pratt Trojans didn’t lose a game during the opening day of the provincial AA high school hockey championships in Russell, but they finished second in their pool.
Dylan Tanner, Reece Ciprick, Robert Wishart and Kyle Rubeniuk all scored for the Trojans Thursday night as they beat the Pembina Tigers 4-2 to go 1-0-1 in the round robin. The Deloraine/Hartney Colts matched that record and were awarded first in the pool based on goal differential.
Griffen McLean and Bradley McLeod scored for the Tigers (0-2-0), who are from Cartwright, Manitou and Pilot Mound. The Trojans will meet the Neepawa Tigers in one of today’s semifinals at 5:30 p.m., while the Colts will face the Melita/Waskada Devils in the other at 8 o’clock.

Cody Pasowisty, Brett McKinnon and Shane Levandosky all scored for the Tigers (1-0-1), who finished first in their group. James Turnbull replied for the Devils (1-1-0).

Riley Bodin had two goals and an assist for the Colts. Devin Lowry and Kirby Bridges replied for the Tigers.
Melita/Waskada 5 Somerset 2
Elisha Bambridge and Will Brown both scored twice for the Devils. Marc Vigier and Karl Conrad replied for the Mustangs (0-1-1).
Major Pratt 2 Deloraine/Hartney 2
Chad Kilimnik and Rubeniuk scored for the Trojans, while Bodin and Andrew Vercaigne netted the Colts’ markers.
Neepawa 2 Somerset 2
