Hunt helps Red win under-18 scrimmage

Hartney defenceman Melissa Hunt was on the winning side as Team Red defeated Team White 3-2 at Hockey Canada’s national women’s under-18 team selection camp on Thursday in Calgary.

Red has won both contests of the three-game series so far. Kristen Campbell of Brandon is also on the Red team, but didn’t play on Thursday after the winning goaltender in the first game of the series.

Forward Sheridan Oswald of MacGregor played for Team White.

The squads will play one last intrasquad game on Saturday before the team is chosen for a series of games against the United States next week.

Tonight, Brandon’s Ashleigh Brykaliuk and Team Yellow will take on Neepawa’s Halli Krzyzaniak and Team Blue at the national development team’s camp, also in Calgary.

Dwayne Gylywoychuk of Brandon is the head coach of the development team, which is also preparing for a series of games against the U.S.
