Impressive week for Oil Capitals' Iwan

Virden Oil Capitals netminder Adam Iwan was a runner-up for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League player of the week award.

Winnipeg Blues goaltender Scott Parsons, 18, earned this week’s honours after posting a 2-1 record that included his third shutout of the season for the Blues (23-15-6).

Meanwhile, Iwan, 20, went 2-0 last week, stopping 43 of 44 shots to be named first star in the Oil Capitals’ 2-1 victory over the Natives on Sunday night at Neepawa’s Yellowhead Centre and making 24 saves in a 3-2 victory over the visiting Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Saturday night at Virden’s Tundra Oil and Gas Place. Iwan has a 14-8 record with a 2.73 GAA and .904 save percentage for the Oil Capitals (25-13-3).
