Kings in control of series

The Dauphin Kings are heading home with a 2-0 series lead in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

The Kings beat the host Virden Oil Capitals 4-1 on Tuesday night in Game 2 of the best-of-7 Sher-Wood Division final.

Meanwhile, in last night’s Addison Division final, the Winnipeg Blues took a 2-0 lead in that series with a 4-2 victory over the visiting Steinbach Pistons.

In Virden, Brent Wold had a goal and two assists, while Brett Hope, Dylan Butler and Jared Morris had the other goals and Michael Stiliadis made 29 saves for Dauphin.

Cole Hamblin replied with the lone goal for the Oil Kings, while netminder Adam Iwan stopped 19 shots.

Game 3 is slated for Dauphin’s Credit Union Place on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., with Game 4 back in Virden on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Blues 4 Pistons 2

In Winnipeg, Channing Bresciani had a goal and two assists to lead the Blues, with Jackson Keane, Garret Browning and Mitch Hansen scoring the other goals. Suede Omeasoo and Colin Baudry replied for Steinbach.

Game 3 will be played Thursday in Steinbach at 7:30 p.m., with Game 4 back in Winnipeg on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
