Kings stretch win streak to 17 games

Make it 17 straight wins for the Dauphin Kings.

Brandon’s Mitch Van Teeling and Blake Kirkham both netted a pair of goals as the Kings defeated the Neepawa Natives 6-3 in Manitoba Junior Hockey League action Sunday night at the Yellowhead Centre. Souris’ Tanner Butler and Killarney’s Aubrey Chapman both added assists for Dauphin (44-11-2), which got a 19-save performance from Killarney’s Brian Archibald.

Brandon’s Clayton Heinrichs replied with one goal for Neepawa (13-38-6), while MacGregor’s Landon Thompson picked up an assist.

In Sunday’s other games, it was: Winnipeg Blues 4, Winkler Flyers 3 in overtime; and Swan Valley Stampeders 5, Steinbach Pistons 4 in a shootout.

In Saturday’s games, it was: Waywayseecappo Wolverines 3, Natives 2; Stampeders 4, Virden Oil Capitals 1; OCN Blizzard 2, Pistons 0; and Blues 3, Portage Terriers 0.

Blues 4 Flyers 3 (OT)

At Winnipeg, Kurt Keats scored the overtime winner for the Blues (44-13-1). Cartwright’s Jory Mullin had two assists and Brandon’s Tanner Jago picked up another for Winkler (18-27-10).

Stampeders 5 Pistons 4 (SO)

At Swan River, Jordan Neduzak scored two goals and set up another for the Stamps (30-22-4), and Travis Howe ended the 15-round shootout with a goal. Nick Kobelka and Myles Nykoluk had one goal and one assist for Steinbach (29-25-4).

Wolverines 3 Natives 2

At Wayway, Pilot Mound’s Brett Pinkerton had an assist for the Wolverines (24-25-5). Brandonite Brayden Cuthbert had two helpers for the Natives.

Stampeders 4 Oil Capitals 1

At Swan River, Clearwater’s B.J. Avery had an assist for Swan Valley. Brandon’s Cody Nelson set up Lyrik Friesen’s goal for Virden (18-31-8).

Blizzard 2 Pistons 0

At The Pas, Justin Waskewitch and Darien Cardinal both had a goal and an assist for OCN (37-16-5), while Justin McDonald stopped 36 shots for his fifth shutout of the year.

Blues 3 Terriers 0

At Winnipeg, Isaiah Plett made 28 saves for Winnipeg to earn his first shutout. Adam Iwan stopped 24 shots for Portage (31-23-1).
