Karissa Kirkup scored a pair of goals and set up the other for the Westman Wildcats as they defeated the Melville (Sask.) Prairie Fire 3-1 at the Mac’s Midget AAA hockey tournament in Calgary on Thursday.
Megan Robertson picked up the other goal for the Wildcats (2-0), who were outshot 32-13 in the contest.
Amber Tilbury made 22 saves on 23 shots for Westman in the first two periods before giving way to Kristen Campbell, who stopped all nine shots she faced in the final frame.
The Wildcats’ next game in the tournament is tonight when they face the Calgary Flyers (1-1).
