Leafs move into 1st place

Kevin McNeil drove in three runs and came around to score twice as the Brandon Cloverleafs took over sole possession of first place in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League on Friday with an 11-5 win over the host Neepawa Farmers.

Elsewhere, it was Oak River Dodgers 3, Reston Rockets 2.

In Thursday’s late game, it was: Rockets 8, Brandon Marlins 4.

At Neepawa, Anthony Friesen earned the win after allowing three runs in seven innings, with eight stikeouts. Mason Schiff went 3-for-4 a with three RBIs and a run scored as the Cloverleafs (3-1) jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings.

Garett Rempel went the distance in the loss for Neepawa. Rob Wilson was 3-for-5 with two runs and a pair of RBIs for the Farmers (1-3).

Dodgers 3 Rockets 2

At Reston, Colin Bates went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Josh McInnes was 1-for-4 with a run scored for the Dodgers (2-3), who didn’t score an earned run. Taw Fredrickson went the distance and gave up two runs and eight hits for the win.

Zane Sawyer took the loss for Reston (2-2). Andrew Lochhead was 3-for-4 with a triple, double and an RBI.

Rockets 8 Marlins 4

At Andrews Field, Mitch Olson went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs in a game that was delayed over an hour due to the weather. Austin Brereton scattered three runs and five hits in five innings for the win.
