Brandon’s Amy Lee has been awarded this year’s University of Manitoba Bisons Athletes Scholarship.
The fourth-year captain of the Bisons women’s hockey team picked up a $3,000 alumni award.
Lee is currently studying environmental studies and hopes to become a teacher after she graduates. The 5-foot-6 forward is a volunteer with the Bison Marketing Committee and the University of Manitoba Athletes Council. She also takes part in the UMAC’s Bison Book Buddies program in which U of M players visit local elementary schools and read to students.
Lee, a graduate of the Westman Wildcats 2009 Esso Cup national championship Midget AAA female hockey team, has one goal and four points in 16 games so far for the Bisons (5-8-3), who sit in seventh place at the Christmas break in the eight-team Canada West conference.
