Braeden Lewis and Karsyn Fluker both scored five goals and had one assist as the Westman-based Manitoba Storm opened the 19th annual Source for Sports AAA Hockey Challenge with a pair of wins in the 2003-born age group on Friday in Brandon.
The Storm beat the Manitoba Thunderbolts 17-0 in the morning and the Manitoba Mustangs 15-0 in the afternoon. Hunter Wallace also had a six-point day, scoring two goals and setting up four others.
Grady Lane had one goal and five assists in the tournament opener, while Martin Shea picked up the shutout.
Tyson Zimmer and Kai Ryden both had three-point games against the Mustangs, with Eric Reid recording the shutout.
The Storm (2-0) will face the Manitoba Colts (2-0) in their final group-stage game this morning at Kinsmen Arena. The division’s semifinal will also be played today with the final slated for Sunday at Westman Place at 10 a.m.
All tournament games were played at the Keystone Centre or the Sportsplex.
2003 AGE GROUP:
Manitoba Colts 6
Man-Sask Wolfpack 3
Matthew Wisener scored three times and Tzio Cianflone added two more for the victorious Colts. Benjamin Wagstaff led the Wolfpack with one goal and one assist.
Manitoba Mustangs 8
Mallard Stars 7
Tyler Dodgson and Aidan Hyra both scored twice for the Mustangs. Carter Anderson had a hat trick for Mallard.
Man-Sask Wolfpack 13
Manitoba Thunderbolts 1
Riley Niven scored four goals and added one assist to lead
the Wolfpack over the Thunderbolts.
Manitoba Colts 16
Mallard Stars 6
Henry Glavina scored four times for the Colts, while Hayden Lacquette led the Stars with a hat trick.
2002 AGE GROUP:
Man-Sask Wolfpack 5
Keystone Coyotes 1
Josh Romanyk’s two goals and one assist paced the Wolfpack over the Westman-based Coyotes. Mitchell Thiessen replied for Keystone.
Parkwest Predators 10
Bearcats 4
Briley Wood and Jordan Grey both had hat tricks for the Predators. Jamie Valentino led the Bearcats with a pair of goals.

Calder Anderson scored three goals and added two helpers while Thiessen had one goal and four assists for the Coyotes. Hunter Andrew and Tyson Kozak both notched a pair for the Coyotes while Carson McDonald, Lex Friesen and Owen Murray added singles. Zach Cain had two goals for the Predators.
Man-Sask Wolfpack 19

Romanyk and Brody Wilson both scored five goals to lead the Wolfpack while Monty Driver had an eight-point night. Kaiden Tuchsch added a hat trick for Man-Sask.

Josh Peppler’s five goals led Parkwest to victory.

Cole Muir scored a hat trick for the Wolfpack while Zane MacDonald and Alex Moar had four-point efforts. Carter Cockburn replied for the Westman-based Storm.
Saskatoon Blues 11
Manitoba Thunder 1
Chase Gallant scored four times for the Blues. Andre Smith replied for the Thunder.
Manitoba Storm 8

Drayson Collyer and Tristen Robins both scored one goal and two assists for the Storm. Dylan Halliday, Dawson Grebinski, Mason Kaspick, Mark Liwiski, Jared Twerdoclib and Evan Nachtigall also scored for the Storm. Carthy Caswell recorded the shutout.

Parker Malchuk had a six-point night for the Wolfpack.
