Bryce Webber scored Brandon’s other goal in regulation, while Connor Gutenberg picked up a pair of assists.
Tristen Cross and Braden Billaney both had one goal and one assist for Southwest.
Josh Peterson made 23 saves for Brandon (4-14-0-2), while Dane Fortin stopped 17 shots for Southwest (4-15-0-1).
The two teams will take to the ice in a rematch on Wednesday in Wawanesa at 7:30 p.m.
