Tanner Serruys had a hat-trick to help Little Italy Pizza clinch the Division 3A championship in the Wendy’s Summer Hockey League on Sunday night at the Sportsplex.
Garrett Rudniski added a pair of goals as Little Italy played to a 7-7 tie with the Eye Outfitters Wheeling Dwarfs, but took the two-game total-goal series 19-14 after winning the opener 12-7. Randy Brigden and Blair Brigden also scored for Little Italy. Seth Serhienko replied with three goals, Cam Whyte had two goals and two assists and Braden Ripley and Colin Grenier added singles for Eye Outfitters.
Meanwhile, Braden Billaney fired three goals and assisted on another to lead Qdoba to the Division 3A consolation title on Sunday. Blair Holmes added two goals while Craig Adriaansen scored once as Qdoba beat the Fitness Fanatics 6-3 to take the two-game, total-goal series 12-5. Jay Graham, Dakota Sheirlinck and Riley Workman replied for the Fitness Fanatics.
In the Division 3B championship series, The Rink Nailers clinched the championship title Sunday with a 10-6 victory over Precision Toyota to win the two-game, total-goal series 20-9.
Callum McDonald led the way with three goals and three assists, while Troy Heywood had two goals and two assists, Teagan Pringle scored twice, Megan Robertson had a goal and two assists and Ryan Linto scored once for the Nailers. Carter McKinney scored twice, Jared Spence had a goal and two assists and Wes Meggison, Cole Jarvie and Will Brown added singles in a losing cause.
