A pair of Manitoba Junior Hockey League captains from Brandon are moving on to the college ranks.
Andrew Clark of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the St. Scholastica Saints in Duluth, Minn., while Mitch Van Teeling of the Dauphin Kings will join the York University Lions in the CIS this fall.
Clark, a 20-year-old defenceman, had 10 assists and 62 penalty minutes in 59 MJHL games with the Wolverines this season. Meanwhile, Van Teeling fired 23 goals and racked up 46 points in 60 regular-season games in his 20-year-old season and tacked on two goals and eight points in 13 games in the playoffs for the Kings, who advanced to the semifinals in the RBC Cup Junior A championship.
"I’m excited to be moving on to the next level and school," Van Teeling stated in a club release, adding he thoroughly enjoyed his four years with the Kings. "... Couldn’t have asked for a better place to play junior hockey."
