Brandonite Mitch VanTeeling and Ryan Marshall of Ste. Rose du Lac have been named to Team West for the World Junior A Hockey Challenge next month in Penticton, B.C.
The team is made up of players from the Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia Junior A leagues, as well as the Superior International league in Northwestern Ontario.
Marshall, 19, has a goal and 10 points in 12 games for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Swan Valley Stampeders after scoring 76 points in 59 games last season.
VanTeeling, a 17-year-old MJHL rookie, has a goal and three points in 16 games with the Dauphin Kings.
Also named to the team was OCN Blizzard goalie Matt Krahn of Winnipeg, while former Brandon Wheat King goaltender Jomar Cruz of the Blizzard will be one of Team West's assistant coaches.
The World Junior A Challenge takes place from Nov. 8-14. Team West has played in the gold-medal game in each of the past four events, winning the title twice.
