Jeff Neufeld scattered six hits over six innings and helped his own cause with a triple and a double to lead the Canadian Tire Cardinals to a 10-2 victory over the Diamond Dawgs in Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League action on Tuesday night at Brandon Field.
George McNeill went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Cards, while Jody Anderson tripled and doubled and drove in both runs for the Dawgs. Losing pitcher Randall Wasicuna was tagged for 11 hits over six innings.
Bulldogs eliminate Vikings
The Vincent Massey Vikings were knocked out in Tuesday’s quarter-finals of the Winnipeg High School Football League’s eight-on-eight touch football tournament in Winnipeg.
The Vikings fell 24-21 to the Churchill Bulldogs in the quarter-finals after wrapping up the round robin with a 2-1 record following a 33-6 victory over the Beaver Brae Broncos.
Krinke creates Chaos
Grace Krinke struck twice to lead the Brandon Chaos to a 5-1 victory over the Brandon Cyclones in the Westman Women’s Soccer League on Tuesday night at CFB Shilo.
Ashlea Earl, Mikayla Yuen and Breanne Thompson also scored for the Chaos. Nadine DeGagne replied for the Cyclones.
Meanwhile, Nikki Ragush scored twice as the Remington’s Snipers beat the host Minnedosa Lakers 5-1. Steph Dornn, Kali Stewart and Lindsay Metruk also scored for the Snipers, while Elisha McLean replied for the Lakers.
Hodgson homers for Royals
David Hodgson’s two-run homer and pair of singles helped the Deloraine Royals beat the Hartney Hoppers 7-5 in the South West Baseball League on Tuesday.
Royals starter Jeff Edwards struck out five while going the distance to earn the win. Trevor Derlago worked 6 1/3 innings with five strikeouts for the host Hoppers while Mark Derlago singled twice for Hartney.
Bowles player of week
Batting .461 with six RBIs and earning a save on the mound has earned Brad Bowles the nod as the Pringles Sports Excellence SWBL player of the week.
Bowles helped the expansion Elkhorn Expos post a 3-1 record for the week.
Hockin hot for Lakers
Greg Hockin struck out 12 while tossing a three-hitter over seven innings to lead the Killarney Lakers to a 5-0 shutout of the Pembina Hills Midgets in the Border West Baseball League on Tuesday.
Tim Groening went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lakers.
