The Shilo Gunners curling team and the Brandon-based Wheat City Wings floor hockey team earned medals at the 2012 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in St. Albert, Alta., last week.
The Gunners earned gold for Manitoba by beating Saskatchewan 8-6 in the A Division final on Saturday, while the Wheat City Wings fell 5-2 to Newmarket, Ont., in the D Division final to earn a silver medal. The Gunners featured bowlers Craig McLaren, Harvey Chambers, Jeff Gardiner, Trent Gussie and Dan Peaslee, with coaches Don Couprie and Glen Wiebe.
