It was a great weekend for Brandon’s five CIS football players.
Fourth-year linebacker TJ Simpson, a Vincent Massey Vikings grad, had four solo tackles and forced a fumble to help lead the Windsor Lancers to a 63-18 shellacking of the Ottawa Gee Gees in their home opener on Monday.
Brandon’s Keegan Treloar, a second-year kicker out of Vincent Massey, hit 2-of-3 field goals and booted five extra points to help the Concordia Stingers open their season with a 42-36 triumph over the Bishop’s Gaiters on Saturday.
Meanwhile, fifth-year starting offensive lineman Landon Rice (Crocus Plains grad) and first-year starter Nevin Gamblin (Neelin Spartans) helped the Manitoba Bisons pile up in 258 yards in rushing in a 31-24 Canada West conference triumph over the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday. The Bisons also feature first-year backup offensive lineman Sean Simpson (Crocus Plains).
