Jeremy Lucio poured in 38 points as the Vincent Massey Vikings opened the Triple Crown Zone Challenge high school basketball tournament with an 82-71 victory over the Portage Tigers on Friday.
Mike Lavallee replied with 23 points for the Tigers in the varsity boys’ game.

Theo Farough led Neelin with 17 points, while John Wilson paced Moosomin with 10.
Dauphin 65 Portage 47
Brant Bosiak’s 33 points paced the Clippers. Keith Appah replied for Portage with 21.
Neelin 60 Weyburn 57
Weyburn’s Rhett Williams led all players with 20 points, but Neelin prevailed. Isaak Stark scored 12 for the Spartans.
Virden 68 Massey 41
Heidi Smith hooped 19 points for Virden. Britt Boschman topped Vincent Massey scorers with 10 points.
Kildonan East 50 Crocus 47
Desirae Peiffer had a game-high 19 points but her Crocus Plains team couldn’t overcome Kildonan East, which got 13 points from Brittany Bell.
Neelin 60 Portage 24
Paige Thomson led Neelin’s balanced attack with 12 points. Shae Miller had 20 for Portage.
Virden 69 Crocus Plains 38
Smith’s 14 points helped guide Virden to victory. Stephanie Hunter posted 14 for Crocus.
