Former Brandonite William Lyburn and his Deer Lodge team from Winnipeg cashed in $10,000 by winning the DEKALB SuperSpiel Sunday night in Morris.
Lyburn, with James Kirkness, Alex Forrest and Tyler Forrest, beat Switzerland’s Alexander Attinger 8-1 in the final game of the Manitoba Curling Tour event. Lyburn’s team moved up to fourth in the MCT rankings and moved a little closer to securing a spot in the Safeway Championship men’s curling provincials by qualifying for the MCT Championship in Beausejour from Dec. 6-9.
Darcy Robertson beat Barb Spencer 6-5 in an extra-end in an all-Winnipeg battle in the women’s final to earn $8,000.
