Jaycee Magwood of the Westman Wildcats has been named the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League’s most valuable player.
The 5-foot-8, 150-pound forward from Killarney led the Wildcats and finished fourth overall in league scoring with 43 points, including 23 goals, in 28 regular-season games, earning the nod as MVP in voting by league members.
Joining Magwood on the MFMHL first all-star team were Wildcats defenceman Melissa Hunt of Hartney, Pembina Valley Hawks defenceman Kate Friesen, Central Plains Capitals forward Sheridan Oswald of MacGregor, NorMan Wild forward Christine Sheppard and Wild goaltender Kerigan Dowhy.
Second-team all-stars are Wildcats goaltender Sky Brown of Virden, Yellowhead Chiefs defenceman Jalyn Elmes of Brandon, Central Plains defenceman Tamara McVannel of MacGregor, Central Plains forward Courtlyn Oswald of MacGregor, Pembina Valley forward Lauryn Keen of Manitou and Winnipeg Avros forward Alanna Sharman.
