Manitoba drops opener

Manitoba spotted Ontario West a 23-point halftime lead and couldn’t come back as they lost their Football Canada Cup opener 31-16 on Sunday night in London, Ont.

Manitoba’s under-18 team, which features Brandon’s Bryce Moman and Melita’s James Trider on the offensive line, will now play Nova Scotia in a consolation semifinal today. Nova Scotia fell 39-8 to Alberta in its quarter-final on Day 1.
