Brandon’s Quinton Hunter and Manitoba’s 16-and-under basketball team lost its final round-robin game at the Western Canadian Cadet Championship in Edmonton on Friday, but still advanced to the tournament final.

The Manitoba boys fell 99-84 to B.C., but finished with a 3-1 record as it started the day with a 97-55 win over Yukon. Manitoba’s record was good enough to earn them a rematch against B.C. in today’s championship game.

Meanwhile, the girls’ team — which features Hamiota’s Shayna Mathison — dropped it final round-robin game 79-52 to Saskatchewan. Manitoba finished 0-3 in the standings and will play in today’s bronze-medal game.
