Luke Whelpton earned the win by allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out six in five innings of work.

Eric Zamrycut closed out the final four innings for Brandon by throwing four hitless innings and striking out three.

Michael Baca, Colin Bates and John Lawrence all drove in two runs.

In Sunday’s other games, the Reston Rockets beat the Neepawa Farmers 8-4 in Game 1 of a double header before falling 4-1 in the rematch.
