Courtney Matiece had a hit and scored three times to lead the host Neelin Spartans to an 11-8 victory over the Crocus Plainsmen in the Brandon High School Girls Soccer League on Tuesday.

Jodie Baker replied with a massive two-run homer for the Plainsmen.

Spartans starter Taylor Besette earned the win on the mound, striking out three over six innings while allowing six hits and six walks.

Plainsmen pitcher Delaney Lang took the loss, surrendering 12 hits and 10 walks while striking out three over seven innings.

Both Neelin and Crocus are now 1-2 on the season.
