Chris Menzies had three hits and scored twice to lead the Joe Beeverz Young Guns to an 8-5 win over the Diamond Dawgs in Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League action Tuesday at Brandon Field.
Duncan Lowry had three hits and two runs for the Dawgs, who managed just four hits over four innings off of winning pitcher Cody McPhee. Ian Barr took the loss.
Kent Wheaton struck out 10 and the Souris Cardinals put on a power display with four home runs in a 7-0 victory over the host Wawanesa Brewers in the South West Baseball League last night.
Wheaton tossed a four-hit shutout over seven innings, while losing pitcher Brock Fisher was tagged for seven runs on eight hits in five innings.
Andrew Janz led the Cards by going 2-for-3 with two solo homers. Nathan Kowalchuk was 2-for-3 with a two-run bomb and Jordan Seafoot finished 1-for-2 with a two-run blast for Souris. Trevor Kozak doubled for Wawanesa.
Meanwhile, the host Hamiota Red Sox ripped the Reston Jays 8-1 behind three RBIs, two hits and two runs scored by Justin Knight.
Darren Whelpton had two hits and two RBIs, while Joel Strachan had two hits and scored twice for Hamiota. John Patmore doubled and tripled with an RBI for Reston.
Tyler Reiner scattered six hits over innings for the win, while Cody Bertholet took the loss.
Andrew Richards had two hits, two steals, two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Minnedosa Mavericks to a 6-2 triumph over the visiting Neepawa Cubs Tuesday in the Santa Clara Baseball League.
Mike Tarleton struck out five over four innings while scattering three hits to earn the win, while Riley Kolesar gave up eight hits and six runs over five innings. Ryan Sneesby went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Cubs.
Nikki Ragush, Steph Dornn and Lindsay Metruck scored as the Remington’s Snipers beat the Brandon Crush 3-1 in Westman Women’s Soccer League action on Tuesday night at CFB Shilo.

Meanwhile the host Royals beat the Brandon Chaos 4-1 last night at the Rivers Quarry on goals by Jasmine Duthie, Alyssa Ver Bruggen, Chrissy Watters and Ashley Ewasiuk. Kate Osadchuk notched the lone Chaos marker.
