The Brandon Wheat Kings will face the Kenora Thistles in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League quarter-finals.
The Wheat Kings (31-10-2), who received a first-round bye, will open their best-of-5 series with the Thistles on Saturday at the Sportsplex at 7:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Cougars face the Winnipeg Thrashers in Round 2 starting Friday in Winnipeg, with Game 2 slated for Sunday in Souris at 2 p.m. The Yellowhead Chiefs open against Pembina Valley in Shoal Lake Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Late Friday night, the Cougars wrapped up a two-game sweep of their first-round series by beating the Central Plains Capitals 3-2 in Portage. Meyer Nell and Brandon Masson each had a goal and an assist for the Cougars, while Tyson Verhelst made 29 saves.
