Midget AAA Wheaties top Rangers

The Brandon Wheat Kings kept their hold on the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League lead on Wednesday with a 5-2 victory over the Parkland Rangers in Dauphin.

The Rangers led 2-1 after two periods, before the Wheat Kings (29-3-0) went to work in the third, scoring four times. Jordy Stallard led Brandon with two goals and an assist, while Tanner Kaspick had a goal and two helpers. Ty Dornn and Josh Kobelka also scored for the Wheat Kings.

Ryland Nernberg set up goals by Shaquille Houle and Ian Ferguson for the Rangers (9-20-3).

Tyler Gutenberg made 25 saves for the Wheat Kings, who remain one point ahead of the Winnipeg Wild for first place, while Connor Shaw stopped 31 shots in the Rangers’ net.
