Midwest gained a small measure of revenge on Newfoundland and Labrador at the Canadian Bantam AAA baseball championship on Sunday in Vaughn, Ont.
The Westman-based squad, which fell to Newfoundland and Labrador during the first day of competition, hammered them 11-1 on Sunday to finish ninth at the event.
Morgan Geekie led the charge for Manitoba, which went 2-3 in preliminary round play, in the placement game, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Dayton Heino also had a pair of hits and scored twice, while Riley Shamray drove in a pair of runners and came around to score once. Ryan McLenehan also scored twice.
Adam Robidoux threw all five innings for Midwest, holding Newfoundland and Labrador to one run and five hits while striking out six.
Manitoba closed out the preliminary round of the competition with a 7-4 win over Nova Scotia on Saturday.
