Brandon Sun - PRINT EDITION

Minnedosa hosts provincials

There will be a distinct Westman flavour to the provincial high school golf championships, which will be played today at the Minnedosa Country Club.

Two full teams are playing in the girls’ division and six more are entered in the boys’ event, as well as a few individual golfers.

Haley Hicks, Cassey Scott, Calene Treichel and Paula Tutkaluke are representing the Boissevain Broncos in the girls’ competition while Ashley Czarnecki, Eveline Juce, Marian Juce and Morgan Strachan will play for the Hamiota Huskies. Dauphin’s Jessi Rampton will play in the individual competition.

In the boys’ competition, Tanner Bilcowski, Stuart Kingdon, Emilio Perez and Wyatt Rapsky will represent the host Chancellors. Representing Crocus Plains are Drew Jones, Tyler Turner, Dylan Williamson and Colton Wilms. Glenboro’s Travis Bartram, Colby Cullen, Andrew Johnston and Travis Myers are also in the field along with Joel Baron, Cory Billaert, Braden Calvert and Josh McMillan from Carberry. Sheldon Kowalchuk, Danny Peaslee, Brayden Rolfe and Carter Suski will represent the Souris Sabres and the Birtle Falcons will also have a team consisting of Dylan Bonchuk, Tyler Bryant, Tyler Wilson and Braden Zimmer.

Russell’s Braden Clement and Killarney’s Torin Howarth will compete in the individual event.
