Dylan Minshull rushed for 267 yards and scored three times to lead the Neelin Spartans to a 19-6 win over the host Fort Frances (Ont.) Muskies in their Winnipeg High School Football League game on Friday.
Minshull scored on 25, 19 and 17-yard runs as the Spartans (4-1) clinched a playoff spot in the Andy Currie Division. He finished the game with 37 carries.
The game was very tight at halftime and Neelin head coach Robert Cullen liked the effort his team showed in the second half to earn the win over Fort Frances (2-3).
“We were up 7-6 at the half and we came out and actually played Spartans football in the second half,” he said.
Neelin quarterback Bryce Keilbach was 2-for-11 for 19 yards and one interception passing and ran for 17 more yards on a pair of carries.
Quinton Hunter had six tackles and one assist to lead Neelin’s defence. Dustyn Lamont added four tackles, one assist and one sack while Brock Hiltner had three tackles, two assists, one sack and one interception.
Sam Waters kicked a convert to round out Neelin’s scoring.
