Souris’ Tanner Butler and Killarney’s Brian Archibald both received player of the month awards for their efforts in December in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
Butler, a 19-year-old with the Dauphin Kings, was named the Sherwood Hockey Defenceman of the Month after recording three goals and 11 points in 11 games. Runners-up were Virden’s Landon Peel of the Swan Valley Stampeders and Sean Collins of the Virden Oil Capitals.
Meanwhile, Archibald, an 18-year-old goalie with the Kings, was named IBAM Rookie of the Month. He posted a 4-1 record, 3.00 goals-against average and an .891 save percentage with one shutout.
Selkirk Steelers forward Parker Thomas was named the RBC Player of the Month. Jon Gaudet of the Dauphin Kings earned an honourable mention.
Adam Iwan of the Portage Terriers is the goaltender of the month. Brandon’s Riley Feser, who plays with Selkirk, was a runner-up for the award.
