The all-Brandon Manitoba Senior Baseball League final opens tonight with what appears to be a closely matched battle.
The Brandon Cloverleafs won the MSBL’s regular-season pennant with a 16-4 record, finishing only a single point ahead of the second-place Brandon Marlins (15-4-1).
The Cloverleafs are going for their fourth championship in the past sixth championship in the past nine years, with the most recent one coming in 2012. The Marlins hope to host the Cliff Seafoot Memorial Trophy for the first time since 2008.
The teams previously met in the MSBL final in 2009 with the Cloverleafs coming out on top.
Every game of the best-of-seven series is slated for Andrews Field, with start times of 7 p.m. Game 2 of the series will be played on Friday.
